Emergency First Aid

Our one-day Emergency First Aid is course designed to meet the needs and professional requirements of the complementary therapist, as well as to comply with the one-day Appointed Persons course recommendations.

The course is delivered by Lynda Pudney, a medically qualified First Aid trainer, and provided through a training company which has been registered by the Health & Safety Executive since 1992 to deliver First Aid at Work training.
 
The aim of the day is to give participants the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence to carry out Emergency First Aid through theoretical and practical instruction.

COURSE COMPONENTS

On completion of the training, candidates will be able to:

• Understand the role of the First Aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions.
• Understand the importance of basic hygiene in First Aid procedures.
• Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
• Demonstrate how to administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure.
• Demonstrate how to administer cardio-pulmonary resuscitation promptly and effectively to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock.
• Administer First Aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is choking.
• Provide appropriate First Aid for minor injuries.

Entry Requirement
• Entry onto this course requires a prior qualification in any complementary therapy.

An Institute Certificate is issued on completion.

Lynda Pudney RN
Course Instructor

Lynda Pudney is a registered nurse with a broad experience of medical practice, counselling, occupational health, first aid training and complementary healthcare. While working as an Occupational Health Nurse for a major airline, she designed and implemented the company’s First Aid training programme, registered with the Health & Safety Executive.

Since 1992 she has continued to train and examine for a number of organisations throughout the UK. Lynda has a had a long-standing interest in complementary therapies, gaining professional qualifications in Systematic Kinesiology, Counselling, Light Touch Spinal Realignment, Reiki and Natural Lift Facial Massage. She continues to provide First Aid training for industry and other client groups and is the officially approved trainer for the Association of Systematic Kinesiology.

Dates: Saturday, June 12, 2010 (1 day).
Times: 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
