Advanced Certificate Course in

Teaching Infant Massage

with Wendy Jackson MIFPA

Infant Massage is an wonderful, age-old practice that encourages bonding between parents and their newborn. Massage enhances the circulation of the blood, and therefore improves the condition of a baby’s skin and muscles. It can help regulate to their sleep pattern as well as soothe a colicky baby, helping to restore the normal function of the digestive tract.

Infant massage facilitates body awareness in the baby, and helps in the development of coordination and learning skills through sensory stimulation. By encouraging the circulation of lymph, it enhances the child’s immune system and strengthens the development of their heart and lungs.

This course will allow you to teach as well as to practice infant massage. You will learn how to teach parents different massage strokes and techniques to use throughout their child’s development, up to adolescence. This will include techniques that are useful during their early days, which can help with colicky babies and teething pain.

You will gain a thorough understanding of the benefits of baby massage, how to confidently teach new parents, and how to deepen their connection with their babies through loving touch. You will learn how to teach individual sessions as well as to run small group classes.

Learning to massage their baby is one of the best gifts the parents you teach will ever give themselves and their child. If you are drawn to working with families in their childbearing years, learning infant massage and its professional instruction will be a valuable and rewarding addition to your skills.
